2011 Kalibo Ati-Atihan Photo Contest Guidelines

1.   Contest Duration: January 11-15, 2010
2.   The “Faces of Ati-atihan Open  Photo Contest” is open to entrants of all skill levels, but excludes the members of Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) /Aklan Photographic Society (APS), including the secretariat and judges; each of their affiliates and subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies, are not eligible to enter or win a prize.
3.   Participants should not only limit their entries to “ faces” or “portraits” of people celebrating Ati-atihan but it can be any photo of group, entities, individuals, events, etc. depicting the spirit and unique celebration of Kalibo Ati-atihan as the “Mother of All Festivals”.
4.   Images taken with either a digital or a film camera will be accepted.

An entry consists of:
- one completed contest registration form
- 8” x 12” print of the contest entry
- soft copy of the contest entry with original/raw and the optimized images file extension .jpg or .tiff on CD.
5.   Participants may submit a maximum of five (5) entries. 
6.   Participants, when submitting entries, may combine several contest entries in one legal size brown envelope. 1 picture is equivalent to 1 contest entry.
7.   All photos submitted should have been taken during the duration of the contest. Entries shall contain metadata to ascertain the date of the photo shoot.
8.   All entries will be received until 6 pm on January 15, 2011 at the Kasafi office.
9.   Entries should be free of watermarks and other markings. Entries should not contain any borders.
10.   Submitted Photographs shall be exclusive to this contest. It must be unpublished and it must not have been submitted and will not be submitted in any other contests.
11.   Black and white and color formats are accepted. Images should not contain drastic alteration. You may use digital manipulation to optimize an image but you are not permitted to add or remove key elements of the composition.
Composite or montage images, from more than one original image, are not eligible. Elements should not be added nor removed. Color and contrast adjustments are acceptable. High Dynamic Range (HDR), Infra Red (IR) and Stitched Photos are not accepted. Failure to comply with these rules on photograph manipulation may result in disqualification of entry.
12.   All entries should meet the contest criteria. Failure to do such will result to rejection of the entry.
13.   The participant shall guarantee that forwarded entries are taken by him or her. No other entity has rights, claims or interests on the submitted photographs. The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsors, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close up of another person's art.
14.   To this end, the participant shall execute the Undertaking, upon submission of the participant’s entry within the prescribed contest period.
15.   The winners will be advised via email or by phone on 16 January 2011.
16.   Copyright in all images submitted to the competition, including winning entries, will remain with the photographer. However, submission of these photos as entries to “Faces of Ati-atihan Open  Photo Contest” give option to the latter and its event partners the right to use the photo outside of the photo contest, which may include Exhibit, Company’s brochures, posters, billboard, postcards, merchandise, online advertisement, website, web blogs, social networking sites, and other online marketing sites, given consent by the photographer.
The free usage, however, of the same by the Kasafi/Aklan Photographic Society (APS), is not allowed to lend or sell these photos for monetary consideration.
17.   The entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all images entered. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not the organizers, to ensure that they comply with these ownership and copyright requirements and own the rights of reproduction of their images. Entries that do not fulfill these criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified. Where this is discovered after the prize has been awarded, the prize must be returned or refunded by the entrant.
Entrants agree to fully indemnify KASAFI/Aklan Photographic Society (APS) and its sponsors and members in respect of all royalties, fees, and any other monies owing toany person by reason of the entrant breaching any foregoing.
18.   The Exhibit schedule and venue for the winning entries shall be announced on a later date.
