Picture
Join the Kalibonhons in merry making and dancing at the Kalibo Ati-Atihan this January 2011 ! Considered as the “Mother of All Festivals”, Kalibo Ati-Atihan will allow you to experience the history and culture that has drawn the masses to the streets of Kalibo for an entire week of festivities.

The “Sadsad”
The renowned “Sadsad” (street dance) is a century’s old tradition that is said to commemorate the successful pact between the native Aetas and Bornean datus who landed in Panay Island. The advent of the Spanish regime has since then revolutionized the tradition with the incorporation of the Sto. Nino. Prepare to smear yourself with black paint or soot and dance to the beat of the drums shouting in chorus, “Viva kay Senor Sto. Nino!”

Catholic Tradition, Art and Architecture
Kalibo is the home of the oldest edifice of Catholic worship in the Province of Aklan – the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist which is one of the last works of the renowned National Artist, Leandro Locsin.
Experience the unique age – old faith healing rule of the miraculous Sto. Nino (Holy Child) called Pahilot or Paeapak. Just beside the Kalibo Cathedral is the “Museo it Akean” (Aklan Museum) which houses famous Aklanon works of art ranging from poetry to crafts to photography and paintings. Across the church is the Pastrana Park where most of the activities of the festival is held.
